The Positioning API can by localising devices and equipment, offer solutions where positioning is integrated into a service like in switchboards, security solutions or fleet management.
How it works
The accuracy of network based positioning depends upon factors like the density of base stations in the mobile network. Tests show that about 90 % of the mobile phones can be located within approximately 500 metres in the major cities and within about 10 km in rural areas.
Telenor supports whitelist and last known location.
Positioning requires voluntary, explicit and informed consent from the mobile phone user.
The end user can temporarily or permanently block his/her subscription against positioning via SMS with POS STOP to 1999. The end user can still be located if calling 110, 112 and 113.Positioning can be unblocked sending SMS with POS START to 1999.
